Abstract

Using English literary works in foreign language classes is one of the most effective ways to improve students’ language skills while also developing their cultural awareness and critical thinking abilities. Stories, poems, and dramas provide learners with opportunities to expand their vocabulary, understand grammar in context, and practice communicative skills (Harmer, 2007). Moreover, literary works help students explore the cultural and moral values embedded in the language (Brown, 2001). This article examines various methods of using English literary works in foreign language classes and their pedagogical benefits.
