THE INVESTIGATION OF THE LANGUAGE CLASSROOM PROCESS
Abstract
Second language classrooms have remained a major focus of educational research due to their important role in shaping learners’ linguistic development. Recent studies investigating classroom dynamics have attempted to distinguish formal instructional settings from natural language learning environments and to identify differences across various classroom contexts. Current research on classroom processes emphasizes the value of systematic observation in understanding the factors that influence language learning experiences. This perspective represents a shift from earlier approaches that mainly focused on general instructional outcomes. The present review considers selected studies related to instructional input, learner participation patterns, and approaches to handling errors. In addition, it discusses recent introspective research methods that aim to provide deeper insights into learners’ experiences within second language classrooms.
