Abstract

International sports events have become an integral part of global development, promoting peace, intercultural dialogue, economic growth, tourism, and sustainable development. These events influence not only the sports sector but also national economies, urban infrastructure, employment, and international cooperation. Effective management of sports events is essential for maximizing their positive impacts while minimizing financial and organizational risks. This study examines the concept of international sports events, their socio-economic importance, and the major sports event management models applied worldwide. Using a qualitative research approach based on comparative analysis and literature review, the study identifies the strengths and weaknesses of different management models. The findings suggest that integrated governance involving government institutions, private organizations, and local communities provides the most sustainable outcomes for international sports event management.
