Abstract

This article looks at how Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) can help improve learners’ speaking skills in English as a Foreign Language (EFL) settings. The study examines, how communicative activities, including role-plays, discussions, and information-gap tasks, contribute to the development of fluency, accuracy, and confidence. To investigate this, a quasi-experimental method was used, where two groups of students were taught using different approaches one with CLT techniques and the other more traditional grammar-based instruction. The study also discusses challenges related to the implementation of CLT, especially in contexts where exposure to English is limited. The results suggest that a balanced approach combining communicative practices with focused grammar instruction is most effective for developing overall speaking competence.
