This study explores how emoji function as pragmatic devices in the formation of implicature and presupposition in digital discourse. Moving beyond their visual-symbolic role, emoji are analyzed as multimodal pragmatic markers that influence meaning construction in computer-mediated communication. Using a qualitative and comparative approach, data from English and Uzbek social media interactions were examined. The findings show that emoji systematically contribute to implied meanings (implicatures) and background assumptions (presuppositions), while also shaping interpersonal interpretation. The study confirms that emoji-based implicatures exhibit cross-linguistic universality, whereas presuppositional interpretations are strongly culture-dependent.
