Abstract

This paper examines the role of endophytic microorganisms — bacteria and fungi that colonise internal plant tissues without causing disease — in promoting plant growth and stress tolerance. It discusses the mechanisms through which endophytes enhance nutrient acquisition, produce growth-regulating compounds, and confer resistance to biotic and abiotic stresses. The potential application of endophyte-based biofertilizers in sustainable agriculture is also evaluated.
