Abstract

The development of a native language is a complex and fascinating process, influenced by various socio-cultural factors within a particular region. This article aims to explore the nuances of native language development in Uzbekistan, a linguistically diverse country located in Central Asia. Drawing upon language acquisition theories and empirical studies, it examines the linguistic landscape of Uzbekistan, the role of sociolinguistic factors, educational policies, and the influence of Uzbek as the national language on the native language development of its citizens. Additionally, it sheds light on the potential challenges faced by individuals in acquiring and maintaining their native language within the multilingual context of Uzbekistan.
