Abstract

This article explores conceptual metaphors in English and Uzbek linguistic cultures from the perspective of comparative linguistics and cognitive linguistics. The study analyzes metaphorical expressions related to emotions, time, social relations, and worldview in both languages. Conceptual metaphors are examined as cognitive mechanisms that reflect cultural values and national mentality. The research applies qualitative comparative analysis based on linguistic and cultural interpretation. The findings demonstrate that English and Uzbek share several universal metaphorical patterns rooted in common human experience, while also preserving culturally specific metaphorical structures shaped by history, traditions, and social norms. The study contributes to comparative linguistics, intercultural communication, and translation studies by identifying similarities and differences in metaphorical conceptualization between the two languages.
