“IDIOMS IN TRANSLATION: PROBLEMS AND STRATEGIES”

Abstract

In world linguistics, phraseological units are interpreted as multifaceted and multilayered mental structures that manifest psychological, cognitive-semantic, and linguocultural aspects. In traditional linguistics, language units, including phraseological units, were mainly studied on the basis of their linguistic features. The transformation of phraseological units and their renewal properties not only serve as a source of stylistic productivity but also function as a factor in the formation of new phraseological units. In this sense, the study of phraseological units from transformational, semantic-pragmatic, and linguocultural perspectives, as well as the formulation of scientific conclusions, is of great importance for world linguistics. In Uzbek linguistics, scientific and practical research is being conducted on the basis of effective and modern methodological approaches and research methods aimed at solving goals and tasks arising from contemporary social needs. Furthermore, a comprehensive description and analysis of the changes in stabilized phraseological units, their modernization, and the means and methods of forming phraseological units that express new concepts constitute one of the pressing issues in Uzbek linguistics.
