Ushbu maqolada epigenetik modifikatsiyalarning inson organizmidagi metabolik jarayonlarni boshqarishdagi o‘rni va ularning patologik holatlar, xususan, qandli diabet, semizlik va metabolik sindrom rivojlanishidagi biokimyoviy mexanizmlari atroflicha tahlil qilinadi. Tadqiqotda DNK metillanishi, giston oqsillarining post-translyatsion modifikatsiyalari (atsetillanish, metillanish, fosforillanish) va kodlamaydigan RNKlar (miRNK) ning genlar ekspressiyasini epigenetik nazorat qilishdagi ahamiyati yoritilgan. Shuningdek, tashqi muhit omillari, jumladan, noto‘g‘ri ovqatlanish va turmush tarzi ta’sirida yuzaga keladigan epigenetik izlarning metabolik xotira shakllanishidagi roli ko‘rib chiqiladi. Maqolaning yakuniy qismida epigenetik modifikatorlarga asoslangan yangi avlod terapevtik yondashuvlari (Epi-drugs) va ularning klinik istiqbollari muhokama qilingan.
