HELLP (Hemolysis, Elevated Liver enzymes, Low Platelets) syndrome is one of the most aggressive and fulminant forms of secondary thrombotic microangiopathies (TMAs), often considered an extreme variant of severe preeclampsia or a distinct complication. Its clinical manifestations—massive hemolysis, a marked elevation of liver enzymes, and a critical drop in platelet count—are indicative of profound systemic damage associated with a high risk of multi-organ failure, disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC), and maternal mortality, which can reach up to 3-5% according to various authors [1].
