This thesis discusses the views of Abu Ali Ibn Sina on health, human physiology, disease prevention and medical culture. Ibn Sina, known in the Western world as Avicenna, made an invaluable contribution to the development of medicine, philosophy and natural sciences. His famous work The Canon of Medicine became one of the most important medical encyclopedias in world history. In his medical doctrine, health is interpreted not only as the absence of disease, but also as the harmony of the body, mind, lifestyle and environment. The article highlights Ibn Sina’s ideas about a healthy lifestyle, proper nutrition, physical activity, hygiene and emotional balance.
