Abstract

In the modern digital era, social media has become one of the most influential tools for communication and education. It has significantly impacted the way people learn and use foreign languages, especially English. This article examines the effect of social media platforms on English pronunciation development among learners. Social media provides access to authentic spoken English through videos, podcasts, live streams, and interactive communication with native speakers. However, it also introduces challenges such as informal speech, slang, incorrect pronunciation models, and accent mixing. The paper analyzes both positive and negative influences of social media on pronunciation, discusses its pedagogical implications, and suggests effective strategies for teachers and learners to use social media as a pronunciation improvement tool. The research concludes that social media can be highly beneficial for pronunciation if learners use reliable content sources and practice consistently under proper guidance.
