THE PEOPLE’S PSYCHOLOGY IN THE WORKS OF GAFUR GULOM

Abstract

This article provides a scholarly and theoretical analysis of the issues of the people’s spirit, historical destiny shaped by the era, and social responsibility in the works of Gafur Gulom, a prominent representative of twentieth century Uzbek literature. Using poetic and publicistic works created mainly during the years of the Great Patriotic War, the article reveals the poet’s close connection with the people, the artistic expression of patriotic ideas, and the poetic interpretation of the principles of humanism and internationalism. Based on such works as “Kuzatish” (Farewell), “Sen yetim emassan” (You Are Not an Orphan), and “Men yahudiy” (I Am a Jew), the ideological and artistic features of Gafur Gulom’s poetry, the system of images, and its spiritual and philosophical layers are examined. In addition, the scholarly views of Laziz Qayumov, Mamasodiq Husainov, Matyoqub Qoshjonov, Korney Chukovsky, and Oybek concerning the writer’s creativity are comparatively analyzed, and the role of the poet’s heritage in the development of Uzbek literature is elucidated.
