Abstract

This article explores the moral views of Peripatetic philosophers during the Eastern Renaissance, emphasizing their ethical teachings and their significance in shaping moral philosophy. It highlights Theophrastus and other Peripatetics’ emphasis on education as a foundation for moral development, stressing virtues such as modesty, self-respect, and persistent effort in cultivating reason and virtue. The study also discusses the integration of Peripatetic ethics with spiritual and religious ideas, particularly in the context of Eastern philosophy, where revelation and intuition complement rational moral inquiry. The moral philosophy of the Peripatetics is shown to balance external actions with inner virtue, underscoring the importance of ethical responsibility in personal and social life. Their views remain relevant for contemporary ethical and educational discourse, offering insights into the cultivation of moral character and social harmony.
