INFLUENCE ON THE DEVELOPMENT AND PRODUCTIVITY OF MELON VARIETIES UNDER THE CONDITIONS OF FILM MULCHING

Abstract

This scientific article studies the effect of different film mulching methods on growth biometric indicators and yield parameters of melon varieties. According to the results of the experiment conducted in 2020–2022 on the varieties “Kichkintoy” and “Kok Tinni 1087”, the main stem length, number of lateral branches, fruit weight, and total and marketable yield were higher in the film-coated (transparent and black) variants than in the non-film (control) variant. In particular, when mulching with black film, marketable yield increased by 23–25%. Mulching technology has been proven to be an important factor in improving the agrophysical environment in melon cultivation, protecting plants from the external environment, and obtaining high-quality, abundant yields.
