DESPITE THE DIFFICULTIES OF LIFE, THE WRITER NEVER TIRED OF SEARCHING FOR KNOWLEDGE

Academician Gafur Ghulom, our famous and honored writer, who made a great contribution to the development of Uzbek literature, was born in 1903 in the Korgontegi neighborhood of Tashkent. The writer's father, Ghulam Mirza Arif, and his mother, Tashbibi Yusuf, were intelligent, educated people who valued science highly. Intellectual people often visited their houses. Ghafur Ghulam was engaged in science along with such intelligent people. Ghafur Ghulam's period of learning corresponds to the period of difficulties and poverty. But the period of difficulties and poverty cannot stop Gafur Ghulam from learning and research. Gafur Ghulam was orphaned by his father at the age of nine in 1912, and by his mother at the age of fifteen in 1918.
