DEVELOPING INTERCULTURAL COMPETENCE IN ENGLISH LANGUAGE LEARNING

Аннотация

In English as a Foreign Language (EFL) education, the development of intercultural competence (IC) is essential for preparing learners to communicate effectively in culturally diverse contexts. Intercultural competence enables learners to understand, respect, and adapt to cultural differences while enhancing their communicative skills. This paper examines the significance of IC in English language learning, synthesizes recent research on EFL learners and teachers, and discusses strategies for integrating IC into educational practices. Findings highlight that structured training, curriculum integration, teacher development, and technology-enhanced learning are crucial for fostering IC, ultimately improving both language proficiency and intercultural understanding
