Abstract

Ventral and incisional hernias with large abdominal wall defects remain one of the most challenging problems in abdominal surgery. Advances in prosthetic materials and minimally invasive techniques have significantly improved surgical outcomes; however, the optimal operative approach for large defects remains controversial.
