The twenty-first century has brought rapid changes in language use due to globalization, technological advancement, increased mobility, and digital communication. These developments have accelerated sound change and phonological innovation across speech communities. This article explores the main factors influencing contemporary phonological change in English, including sociophonetic variation, digital communication, dialect contact, and globalization. The study highlights how modern social and technological environments shape pronunciation patterns and facilitate the spread of innovative speech forms. The findings confirm that phonological innovation remains a central feature of language evolution in the digital age.
