INFLUENCE OF COMPOSITE FILTER FABRIC THICKNESS AND GAS VELOCITY ON CLEANING EFFICIENCY

This study examines the influence of filter fabric thickness and inlet gas velocity on the cleaning efficiency of a bag filter unit operating at a dust concentration of 900 mg/m³, with the filter medium manufactured from a combination of glass fiber and PTFE (Teflon) fibers. In the investigation, polydisperse quartz dust with a particle size range of 2–10 μm was used as the test dust. The calculation results demonstrated that, as the filter fabric thickness increased from 1 mm to 2 mm and the gas velocity rose from 10 m/s to 20 m/s, the cleaning efficiency increased consistently. However, this improvement was accompanied by a simultaneous increase in aerodynamic resistance and pressure loss. The obtained results highlight the need to establish an optimal balance between filtration efficiency and energy consumption in the filtration process.
