CURRENT POLICY AND FUTURE PROSPECTS OF INCLUSIVE EDUCATION IN UZBEKISTAN

Inclusive education has become an important direction of educational reform in Uzbekistan, reflecting both national development priorities and international human rights standards. In recent years, the country has moved from a predominantly segregated approach to one that increasingly recognizes the right of children with disabilities and special educational needs to study in mainstream schools. This article examines the current policy framework of inclusive education in Uzbekistan, identifies major achievements and continuing challenges, and discusses future prospects in light of the works of Uzbek, Russian, and European researchers. It argues that while the legal and strategic basis for inclusion has significantly improved, effective implementation still requires teacher preparation, resource allocation, institutional coordination, and public awareness.
