"EXPLORING WORLD ENGLISHES AND APPLIED LINGUISTICS: A SUMMARY OF BRAJ B. KACHRU’S CONTRIBUTIONS"

Аннотация

Braj B. Kachru’s work on World Englishes has reshaped the study of English language variation and its global spread. His introduction of the three concentric circles model — Inner, Outer, and Expanding Circles — provided a framework to understand the sociolinguistic realities of English use worldwide. This paper examines the impact of Kachru's theories on applied linguistics, particularly in language teaching, policy, and identity. The study emphasizes the need for inclusive pedagogical practices and acknowledges the legitimacy of non-native English varieties.
