Abstract

The article examines the formation of new words and terms in the modern Uzbek language and analyzes the semantic and structural characteristics of neologisms from a theoretical and linguistic perspective. Particular attention is paid to semantic innovation, since lexical renewal does not always involve the creation of completely new word forms. In many cases, existing lexical units acquire new meanings, become specialized within particular professional or scientific domains, or undergo metaphorical and metonymic transformations. The study considers neologization as a complex linguistic process involving both internal word-formation mechanisms and external linguistic influences. Affixation, compounding, abbreviation, borrowing, calquing, semantic derivation, and hybrid word formation are identified as major mechanisms contributing to the development of the contemporary Uzbek lexical system.
