JAK INHIBITORS IN THE PATHOGENESIS OF ALOPECIA AREATA

Current fundamental research in cytogenetics and biochemistry has significantly advanced our understanding of hair follicle morphology and physiology. Researchers are increasingly focusing on the so-called "bulge region"—a thickening located below the sebaceous gland, which some authors have termed the "secondary hair germ." Investigating the mechanisms of cyclic hair formation is crucial for developing novel therapeutic approaches aimed at restoring hair growth. Recently, a specific group of cytoplasmic (extracellular) receptors that transmit information via tyrosine kinases has been identified. Of particular interest are Janus kinases (JAKs); upon the binding of growth factors, these kinases induce receptor dimerization, autophosphorylation, and subsequent activation.
