Abstract

This article explores the integration of AI-powered tools, particularly chatbots, in language learning environments and their pedagogical implications. The rapid development of artificial intelligence has transformed traditional language instruction by introducing interactive, adaptive, and personalized learning experiences. AI chatbots such as conversational agents enable learners to practice target languages in real-time, receive instant feedback, and improve fluency without the anxiety often associated with human interaction. As noted by Godwin-Jones (2018), “chatbots provide learners with always-available conversational partners that can simulate authentic communication contexts.” This study examines how such tools support vocabulary acquisition, grammar reinforcement, and communicative competence. Furthermore, it considers challenges such as overreliance on automated feedback and limitations in cultural nuance understanding. The annotation highlights that AI integration does not replace teachers but rather complements instruction by extending learning beyond the classroom. Overall, AI chatbots represent a significant step toward learner-centered education, fostering autonomy, engagement, and continuous practice in second language acquisition.
