This thesis examines the representation of religious values in English and Uzbek artistic discourse with particular reference to John Milton’s Paradise Lost and Boborahim Mashrab’s Mabdai Nur. Religious values play an important role in shaping national worldview, moral consciousness, and cultural identity. In literary texts, these values are expressed not only through direct religious vocabulary but also through symbols, metaphors, images, narrative situations, and moral conflicts. The study aims to identify how religious concepts such as faith, sin, obedience, repentance, divine justice, spiritual purification, and moral responsibility are verbalized in English and Uzbek literary discourse. The comparative analysis shows that Milton’s work presents religious values mainly through Christian theological concepts, biblical allusions, and the opposition between obedience and rebellion. In contrast, Mashrab’s poetic discourse expresses religious values through Islamic and Sufi concepts, spiritual love, self-denial, divine truth, and inner purification. Although the two literary traditions differ in their religious, historical, and cultural background, both texts demonstrate that artistic discourse functions as a powerful medium for transmitting spiritual and moral values.References
