Abstract

This paper investigates the nature of taboo in both English and Uzbek. It shows that there are certain points of similarity and difference between the two languages in using euphemisms. The paper starts with some introductory remarks, two sections and a conclusion. The article discusses euphemism: its definition, classification, nature and relationship with certain figures of speech.
